In our island you will come either by airplane or ship. From the airport of Pithagorio you will reach Kampos of Marathokampos by taxi or rented car and from the Karlovasi port by taxi.
Museums, archaeological sites, monasteries:
- Samos Archaeological Museum
It’s in the centre of Samos town and exhibits the collection of archaic sculpture.
- Folklore Museum of Dimitriou Institution
It’s located in Pithagorio and shows the daily life of Samos people before 1940.
- Paleontological Museum of Samos
It’s located in Mitilinioi village and depicts fossilized bones of mammals that lived before 6 – 8 million years and reveal the natural history of the European continent.
- “The Efpalinio Origma”
It is located close to Pithagorio and it’s the ancient water-tower of 6th century B.C. It’s a tunnel of 1040 m.
- Hera’s temple
The most important archaeological site in Heraio. It’s a magnificent temple and worship center of its time.
- Cave of Pythagoras
It’s the cave in which the great mathematician of ancient times, Pythagoras found shelter when the tyrant Polikratis was hunting him.
- Kakoperato cage
Its interior is decorated with marvelous stalactites and stalagmites.
- The Monastery of Holy Virgin Mary
It was founded from the monk Neilo Latrinos in 17th century. It is celebrated in the 14th of September.
- The Monastery of Virgin Mary “Vrontiani”
The oldest monastery of Samos in the Vourliotes village. It was reconstructed in 1566. After the great fire of 2000 the repair started again. It is celebrated in the 8th of September.
